Police in Dehradun have uncovered a gang involved in debit card fraud in the Premnagar area, arresting three accused and recovering a large number of ATM cards. The action was carried out by the Jhajhra outpost police during routine vehicle checking.
According to police, on April 20, 2026, the team received a tip-off about suspicious individuals traveling in a white car from the Selaqui side who were involved in swapping debit cards to commit fraud. Acting on the information, police intercepted the vehicle (UP 14 FH 7340) and detained the occupants.
During the search, officials recovered 66 ATM cards of different banks, along with three mobile phones and the car used in the crime. The arrested accused have been identified as Imran Ali from Ghaziabad, Naseeruddin from Delhi, and Mohammad Khalid from Ghaziabad.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to target elderly and unsuspecting people at ATM booths. They would offer help, swap the victims’ cards, obtain their PINs, and later withdraw money from their accounts.
Police have registered a case against the accused and seized all recovered items. The trio is being produced before the court, and further investigation is underway to identify other areas where similar frauds were committed and to trace additional members of the network.
Premnagar Station House Officer Naresh Rathore said efforts are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the gang’s activities and connections.
