Five Arrested as International Auto-Lifting Gang Busted in Udham Singh Nagar, 11 Stolen Bikes Recovered

Rudrapur/Khatima: Udham Singh Nagar Police have busted an alleged international auto-lifting gang and arrested five accused involved in motorcycle theft. Among those arrested is a Nepalese national. Police recovered 11 stolen motorcycles that were reportedly stolen from different areas of the district and intended to be sold in Uttar Pradesh and Nepal.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati said the action was taken following directions issued during a crime review meeting to curb rising motorcycle theft cases and improve recovery of stolen vehicles. Acting on intelligence inputs, separate teams from Transit Camp and Khatima police launched operations that led to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the stolen bikes.

Transit Camp police received information about the gang’s activities and conducted a raid at an abandoned structure on Ganeshpur Road. Three accused were arrested from the spot along with a stolen motorcycle. They were identified as Sachin Pal, Arun and Ashish Srivastava, all currently residing in the Transit Camp area of Rudrapur and originally belonging to districts in Uttar Pradesh.

Based on their disclosures, police recovered five more stolen motorcycles hidden at different locations.

In a separate operation, Khatima police arrested Furman Faridi alias Fukna from the Sujia Road area with a stolen motorcycle. Further investigation led to the recovery of additional stolen vehicles. Another accused, Pawan Dhami, a resident of Chandani in Nepal, was arrested from Chakarpur. Police recovered a total of five motorcycles linked to the Khatima operation.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly told police that they mainly targeted motorcycles parked at isolated places, markets, gyms, shops and other public locations. After stealing the vehicles, they would hide them in bushes, on deserted roads or in isolated areas until the situation cooled down before transporting and selling them in Uttar Pradesh and Nepal.

Police said the recovered motorcycles had been stolen from Pantnagar, Transit Camp and Khatima areas. Further investigation is underway to identify other possible members of the network and determine whether the gang was involved in additional theft cases.
