Dehradun: President of India Droupadi Murmu will visit Dehradun on a two-day tour on June 12 and 13. During the visit, she will attend the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) as the chief guest. The President is scheduled to attend the parade at 7:30 am on June 13, where cadets of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course will complete their training and formally pass out from the academy.

This year’s Passing Out Parade will be particularly significant as female cadets will also participate in the ceremony. The development is being viewed by the academy as a landmark moment in its history and a reflection of the growing role of women in the armed forces. The Passing Out Parade marks the successful completion of military training at the academy. After graduation, the cadets will be commissioned as officers and deployed to serve in different parts of the country.

Preparations for the event are in full swing, with cadets undergoing intensive drill and marching practice. The academy’s senior officers are providing special training sessions to ensure a flawless parade and maintain the highest standards of military discipline and performance.

The atmosphere among the cadets remains enthusiastic as they prepare for one of the most important milestones of their military careers.

The Indian Military Academy was established on October 1, 1932, and inaugurated by Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Sir Philip Chetwode. At the time of its inception, the academy had the capacity to train 40 Gentleman Cadets. Over the decades, that capacity has expanded significantly and now stands at around 1,650 Gentleman Cadets.
