Continuous snowfall over the past two days has covered Badrinath Dham in six inches of fresh snow, forcing District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari to cancel his scheduled visit with officials on Monday. The region is experiencing severe cold due to the changing weather conditions.
The administrative team has yet to reach Badrinath to oversee preparations for the Char Dham Yatra, which is set to begin on May 4. Essential works related to water supply, electricity, sewage, and roads are pending. The master plan work will resume in March, and the district administration will visit the shrine once the weather stabilizes.
After two days of rain and snowfall, the weather cleared on Monday, bringing relief from the cold. Bright sunshine increased the maximum temperature by 5°C above normal. Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 27.3°C and a minimum of 9.6°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, light rainfall is expected in parts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh on Tuesday, while other districts will remain dry. Clear weather is likely until February 18-19, but conditions may deteriorate in some areas on February 20.
