Tehri: Traffic movement on the Jakh-Dobra-Bhaldiyana motor road connecting villages of Pratapnagar and Thauldhar blocks in Tehri district came to a halt on Tuesday after a hill section collapsed and heavy debris fell onto the road. The blockage completely disrupted movement on the route, forcing commuters travelling towards Lambgaon and Pratapnagar to take the longer Pipaldali route.
Road widening work under the ring road project is currently underway on the Jakh-Dobra-Bhaldiyana motor road. During the construction work on Tuesday afternoon, a portion of the hill suddenly caved in, bringing down a large amount of debris and blocking the road. The closure of the road has caused inconvenience to residents of both blocks, who depend on the route for regular travel and transportation.
District Disaster Management Officer Brijesh Bhatt said debris clearance work is underway. He added that due to the large quantity of debris, restoration of traffic may take time. According to officials, traffic movement on the route is likely to resume by late night or Wednesday morning.
