In a major step to promote Sanskrit, the Uttarakhand government will introduce certificate courses in Yajna, Karmakand, and Vedic studies, along with training youth in the 16 traditional Sanskars. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued these directions during a meeting of the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy.
The state will also annually award individuals for excellence in Sanskrit. The CM emphasized that Uttarakhand, known for its roots in yoga, AYUSH, and rishi traditions, must work to popularize Sanskrit at the grassroots level. Government offices will now include nameplates in Sanskrit, and nodal officers will be appointed in each district.
One lakh individuals will be trained in spoken Sanskrit through both online and offline modes. Veda study centers will be set up, Sanskrit schools will be rewarded, and short film competitions will be organized. The meeting also suggested scholarship schemes for Sanskrit students and incentive programs for priests.
