The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Dehradun, Champawat, and Nainital districts today, warning of possible thunderstorms in other parts of the state. While plains may experience hot and humid conditions during the day, several hilly regions remain under risk of landslides and road blockages due to heavy rain.
Data shows that from August 28 to September 3, Uttarakhand recorded 187.6 mm of rainfall—around 200% above normal levels. Bageshwar witnessed the highest rainfall at 274.3 mm, nearly 686% above normal, followed by Udham Singh Nagar with 327 mm, about 440% higher than average. Pauri recorded the lowest with 73 mm, nine percent below normal.
Heavy rains have caused debris flows, blocking 284 roads across the state. Uttarkashi is the worst-hit with 54 road closures, followed by Chamoli (41), Rudraprayag (29), Pauri (24), Tehri (24), Almora (32), Pithoragarh (23), Haridwar (17), Dehradun (18), Nainital (10), Udham Singh Nagar (10), Bageshwar (5), and Champawat (2). Authorities are working to clear the routes, but connectivity remains disrupted in several regions.
