Uttarakhand to Tighten Anti-Conversion Law, SIT to Be Formed at Police Headquarters

The Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is set to further strengthen the state’s anti-conversion law. In a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, CM Dhami emphasized that Uttarakhand, being both a border state and a sacred land of Sanatan Dharma, must not allow any attempt to alter its demographic profile.

He directed officials to take strict action against any suspicious activities related to religious conversion. The Chief Minister added that individuals trapped in conversion rackets should be given proper counseling and guidance.

Referring to recent incidents, he instructed officials to move swiftly toward amending the existing anti-conversion law to make it more stringent. CM Dhami also highlighted the success of “Operation Kalnemi” in curbing such activities and called for its continuation.

To intensify monitoring and enforcement, the government will establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the police headquarters level. This SIT will oversee cases and ensure that anti-conversion laws are strictly implemented across the state.
