Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday reviewed the disaster-affected areas of Uttarakhand and instructed officials to remain on high alert over the next few days due to weather concerns. He directed all district magistrates and officials to ensure that relief and rescue mechanisms remain fully prepared, with strict safety measures in vulnerable regions.
The CM assured districts of complete support for relief and rescue operations and emphasized speedy restoration of roads and essential services. In Uttarkashi’s Syana Chatti area, he ordered safe disposal of debris to prevent blockages in rivers during further rainfall. He also noted that as rainfall decreases, the number of Char Dham pilgrims will rise, coinciding with the upcoming festive season, making timely road repairs and infrastructure readiness crucial.
The Public Works Department was instructed to expedite tender formalities, while district teams were told to clear blocked roads, restore electricity and water supply, and provide treatment for injured livestock. The Animal Husbandry Department has been directed to deploy veterinary teams in villages.
Dhami also stressed the need for safety measures for people living near rivers and streams. He ordered that rising water levels should immediately trigger evacuations to safe locations. Additionally, the Irrigation Department was asked to maintain strict monitoring of dams and inform district administrations before releasing water to ensure timely protection of lives and property.
