Dehradun: Construction work on the Bhandari Bagh Railway Over Bridge project has been delayed as the supply of 60 LPG cylinders required for assembling the iron bridge structure is yet to reach the site even after one-and-a-half months.

Around 700 tonnes of iron bridge parts have already arrived in Dehradun, but the assembly work remains stalled due to the shortage of LPG cylinders needed for welding and fitting operations.

Construction company Leesha Engineers Ltd had requested 60 LPG cylinders for assembling the iron sections of the bridge. At that time, supply issues linked to the Iran-Israel conflict reportedly affected LPG availability, and the request remained pending.

Officials said the supply department has now issued a consent letter for cylinder allocation after repeated reminders and follow-ups by the construction company, but the cylinders are still awaited at the project site.

The 76-metre-long iron bridge structure is to be installed above the railway track. Officials estimate that assembling the structure will take around one month after the cylinders are supplied and work resumes.

Meanwhile, railway engineers have started assessing the existing structures before the launch of the iron bridge. Detailed calculations and inspections are being carried out to ensure error-free launching of the structure.

After the assessment, the railway authorities will grant permission to the Public Works Department and the executing company to proceed with the launching work. Officials will then apply for the required railway block for construction activities.
