Haridwar: Five people, including three women, were injured after a car lost control and fell several feet below the Solani river bridge on the Laksar-Roorkee road on Sunday afternoon. According to police, the car broke through the bridge railing before plunging off the bridge. The injured were given first aid and later referred to a hospital in Roorkee for treatment. Police said Anil Kumar, a resident of Maheshwari village in Laksar Kotwali area, was travelling with family members and relatives to Kunja Bahadurpur village in the Iqbalpur area when the accident occurred around noon.
The injured have been identified as Anil Kumar, his wife Soni, Komal of Markpur, Rachna of Mundakheda Khurd and Shrikant of Bijna Khedi in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The car was badly damaged in the accident. Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and helped rescue the injured from the vehicle before police arrived. Police said the cause of the accident is being investigated, though the vehicle going out of control is suspected to be the primary reason behind the crash.
