Four booked in Tehri over assault, vandalism at private school teacher’s house

New Tehri: Police in Lambgaon area of Tehri district have registered a case against four people, including a village head, over allegations of assault, vandalism and arson at the house of a private school teacher. According to police, the complainant, Robina, a resident of Lambgaon, alleged that she has been running a school in the Pratapnagar area for the past 15 years. She claimed that some local residents targeted her over her Christian faith.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that on the night of April 24, a group attacked her house, threw household belongings outside and set them on fire. She said valuables and important documents were destroyed in the incident. The complainant also alleged that she was assaulted and abused during the attack.

Following the complaint, Lambgaon police on Saturday registered a case against Kanda village head Manish Chauhan, along with Manoj Chauhan, Gyan Singh Panwar and Darmiyan Singh Panwar.

Lambgaon SHO Mahipal Singh Rawat said a named FIR has been registered against the four accused and the matter is under investigation. He said all aspects related to the incident will become clear after the probe is completed.
