Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, stating that their stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill reflects disregard for the rights of women.
Speaking to reporters at the state BJP headquarters in Dehradun, Dhami said that parties including Indian National Congress opposed the Nari Shakti Vandan Amendment Bill in Parliament, which, according to him, amounts to denying rightful representation to half of the population.
He alleged that opposition parties prioritized political interests over national interest and do not want women from ordinary families to gain representation in Parliament and state assemblies. Dhami further said that due to the “negative and obstructive politics” of the opposition, the amendment bill could not be passed.
