The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. Pre-monsoon showers are expected to continue across the state over the next two days. On Wednesday, thunderstorms and rain are likely at many places in Uttarkashi, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and some other districts.
According to IMD Director Bikram Singh, isolated heavy rainfall may occur in Bageshwar and Pithoragarh, prompting the yellow alert. Other regions are likely to receive light to moderate showers. On Monday, areas of Dehradun including Maldevta, Raipur, Sahastradhara, and Premnagar witnessed moderate rainfall, while regions like ISBT, Patel Nagar, and Kargi reported light showers.
As per data, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7°C, slightly above normal, and a minimum of 24.5°C. Pantnagar recorded a high of 35.5°C and a low of 25.5°C. Mukteshwar remained cooler with a high of 23.0°C and a low of 15.8°C, while Tehri’s maximum was 24.6°C, three degrees below normal.
The alert aims to caution residents and authorities about possible disruptions due to rain, especially in hilly regions vulnerable to landslides and waterlogging.
