The Uttarakhand Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, approved several major proposals during a meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Decisions spanned across sectors including cooperatives, animal husbandry, dairy, and tourism.
Informing the media, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari stated that the Cabinet approved mandatory audits for cooperative societies from block to state level. A new Level-11 post of Deputy Registrar (Audit) has been created for this purpose, which will be filled on deputation for five years.
Under the Badrinath Master Plan, the Cabinet gave clearance to beautification initiatives, which include artistic wall paintings. The artwork will also feature on the walls of the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT).
In a major decision related to the animal husbandry department, the Cabinet approved the merger of the Scheduled Caste-specific 90% subsidy cow distribution scheme with the dairy department’s “Ganga Cow Scheme.” With this merger, members of the general category will now also be eligible for benefits under the scheme. However, the exact subsidy rate for the general category will be decided in the next Cabinet meeting.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a reduction in the training period for livestock extension officers. The current two-year training requirement has been reduced to one year to speed up the filling of 429 vacant posts.
