Dehradun: A case has been registered at Sonprayag police station against unidentified individuals for damaging public property in Kedarnath Dham, raising concerns over disruption of facilities during the ongoing pilgrimage.
The complaint was filed by Sulabh International supervisor Mintu Pathak, based on which police initiated action. The incident comes at a time when efforts are being made to ensure smooth arrangements for pilgrims in the temple area.
According to the complaint, public toilets installed in Kedarnath sector, helipad area, and horse stand zone were vandalised by unknown persons. In Kedarnath Dham, five doors were found damaged at multiple locations, including the market area, behind the PWD office, near Punjab Sindh Bhawan, and the base camp.
In addition to this, taps and cistern units in several sectors were also broken, affecting basic facilities meant for pilgrims.
Taking the matter seriously, Sonprayag police have registered a case under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984, against unknown persons. The investigation is currently underway.

Rudraprayag police have issued a strict warning, stating that anyone found damaging public property or disturbing the sanctity of the Kedarnath Yatra will face strict legal action. The administration has also appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining arrangements during the pilgrimage.
