Tehri Garhwal: Five pilgrims were injured after a bus carrying Chardham Yatra passengers overturned on the Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway near Jaulangi village in Tehri district on Monday morning. According to officials, the bus was travelling from Gangotri to Kedarnath when the accident occurred near a curve between Kandikhal and Chamba. The vehicle reportedly lost control, collided with a pickup vehicle parked along the roadside and overturned on the highway.
The bus was carrying 22 people, including 18 pilgrims, two cooks, the driver and the conductor. Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and launched a rescue operation. All passengers were safely evacuated from the overturned bus.
Five passengers sustained injuries in the accident. The injured have been identified as Saral Devi (56), wife of Ajay Sharma and a resident of New Delhi; Charan Singh (73), son of Suraj Bhan and a resident of Haryana; Jayshree (52), wife of Dinesh and a resident of Gurugram; Jyoti (37), wife of Amit Kumar and a resident of Ballabhgarh; and Om Prakash Goyal (65), son of Tarachand and a resident of Haryana. The injured were shifted to District Hospital Baurari and Community Health Centre Chamba for treatment. Medical officials said all injured passengers are out of danger.

Kandikhal Police Outpost In-charge Rajendra Kumar said the bus was on its way to Kedarnath with Chardham pilgrims when the accident took place. Authorities have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap. The damaged bus was later moved to the roadside with the help of a JCB machine to restore smooth traffic movement on the route.
